Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced on social media two new finds from excavations at Troy carried out in 2026.

One find is a bone flute from the Archaic Period, dated to around 750–480 BC. Ersoy said it is the first and only musical instrument discovered at Troy in more than 160 years of excavations. The other find is a human-shaped idol head dated to around 2500 BC, found near the Troy II city gate. It adds new information about the symbolic world of the Early Bronze Age.

The excavations were conducted under the Geleceğe Miras Project with permits and support from the ministry. Ersoy said the finds will continue to be researched using scientific methods, preserved and passed on to future generations.
