How We Are Turks selects, summarises and translates stories, credits sources and corrects mistakes.

Who we are

We Are Turks is an independent, multilingual news aggregator that brings together news from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Northern Cyprus. Our goal is to let every people of the Turkic world read what is happening across the region in their own language. We publish in Turkish, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Russian and English.

How stories are selected

We take stories from established, well-known news organisations in each country. The full list of sources we use is on our Sources page. Stories are assessed for importance, regional relevance and news value; when several outlets report the same event, only one story is published. We aim to give balanced coverage to every country in the region.

Summaries and translation

We use automated tools to summarise stories and translate them into eight languages. Summaries are based only on the facts in the source story; names, numbers, dates and quotes are kept exactly as they are, and no information or opinion is added.

Crediting sources

Every story clearly names its source and links directly to the original article. We publish a short summary, not the full article, and send readers who want the whole story to the source. Readers can also open the original article through an automatic translation link in their own language. All rights to the stories belong to the source organisations.

Impartiality

We are not affiliated with any government, political party or group. We report stories as written by the source, without commentary and in neutral language. Our headlines avoid exaggeration and clickbait.

Images and copyright

Images shown with stories are displayed directly from the source websites; they are not copied to our servers, and every image is credited to its source. Rights holders who do not want their content to appear on our site can contact us at the address on our Contact page; requests are reviewed within 48 hours and the content is removed where appropriate.

Corrections

If an error is found in a story we have published, we correct it or remove the story. Please use the address on our Contact page to report errors. Reports are reviewed as quickly as possible.
