Northern Cyprus: Candidacy applications due by 30 October, election council says

The Supreme Election Council (YSK) has announced that applications for candidacy in parliamentary, mayoral, municipal council, muhtar and ihtiyar council positions must be submitted by 30 October.

Candidates must submit a police certificate of good conduct, a residence certificate, an identity card and other required documents with their applications. The council warned that submitting incomplete documents could cause problems during the candidacy process.

For parliamentary candidates, the rule requiring at least 30 percent of candidates of each gender in every electoral district must also be respected. According to the council's statement, candidates will be provisionally announced on the evening of Saturday, 31 October, in television and radio news bulletins.
