Atyrau Region Governor Bolat Akchulakov has inspected the construction of the Silleno polyethylene plant, which will have an annual capacity of 1.25 million tonnes, the regional administration said. During the working visit, officials discussed the pace of construction and installation work, electricity and water supply for future production, and the participation of Kazakh companies in the project.

Silleno general director Mukhtar Avutbayev reported that overall project progress stands at 40.9%. Work is under way at the pyrolysis, polymerisation and general plant facilities. The first large ethylene fractionation column, 101.8 metres high, has been installed in its design position. Installation of furnaces and cryogenic tanks continues, along with construction of production facilities and engineering infrastructure.

Akchulakov asked for calculations of the plant's maximum electricity demand and technical documentation for the energy equipment provided in the project. He said that if the plant's own resources prove insufficient, serious problems could arise, and that electricity imports are expensive. The governor also ordered that infrastructure meet established requirements, including a planned police post building on the site. More than 5,000 people and over 500 pieces of specialised equipment have been mobilised, with about 15,000 workers planned at peak. Over 1,000 permanent jobs will be created once the plant starts operating.
