Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Meets European Training Foundation Director

On 12 October 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Bäşimowa met Pilvi Torsti, Director of the European Training Foundation, who arrived in Turkmenistan to take part in the fifth meeting of the High-Level Group of the DARYA programme, scheduled for 13–14 October 2026. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported the meeting.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in education and vocational training. Attention focused on modernising the vocational education system, promoting practice-oriented learning, and training qualified specialists in line with labour market needs.

The importance of the regional DARYA programme, which aims to develop young people's skills and improve the quality of vocational education in Central Asia, was highlighted. The sides also exchanged views on cooperation under the European Union's Global Gateway initiative, including transport connectivity and stronger regional ties. Afterwards, both sides reaffirmed their interest in continuing constructive dialogue on areas of mutual interest.
