Öztürkler tells Turkic world: “We will never compromise on our sovereign equality”

Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic Ziya Öztürkler addressed the Turkic world at the 15th General Assembly of the Turkic Parliamentary Assembly (TÜRKPA) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, stressing that the Turkish Cypriot people will never compromise on their sovereign equality in the Cyprus issue. According to a statement issued by the Assembly, Öztürkler spoke to guest speakers and participants at the session, held under the theme “Parliamentary Cooperation in the Turkic World in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and Technological Progress.”

Öztürkler said the TRNC is an inseparable part of the Turkic world, as confirmed in the TDT Turkistan Declaration and the Budapest Summit. He said full membership of the TRNC in TÜRKPA would strengthen the unity of the Turkic world. Stressing that there are two separate peoples on the island, he noted that the Turkish Armed Forces' presence is of vital importance for the Turkish Cypriot people.

Öztürkler thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş for their support of the Turkish Cypriot people. The delegation also included Assembly Administrative Chief Yasemi Öztürk and CTP Deputy Şifa Çolakoğlu.
