Üstel: We are opening the door to free university for our youth, as in the EU and Türkiye

Ulusal Birlik Partisi Chairman and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced that, as in European Union countries and Türkiye, the TRNC will offer young people free university education. Üstel said the measure, to be implemented in 2027, will support youth education while also easing the economic burden on families.

According to the statement, in 2027 the state will cover the full university tuition fees of TRNC citizen students who are placed in TRNC universities through an exam conducted by the Ministry of National Education. TRNC citizen students currently studying at universities with a grade point average of 3.00 or above will also benefit from the support.

Üstel said the government understands the sacrifices parents make to educate their children and the burden that tuition fees paid each term place on family budgets. He said the aim is for young people to focus on their studies, continue their education in their own country and prepare for the future with confidence, adding that every investment in young people's education is an investment in the country's future.
