Armenian Parliament Ratifies TRIPP Framework Agreement With US

Armenia’s parliament has ratified a framework agreement with the United States on the TRIPP project. Speaking to Baku TV, Armenian studies expert Professor Qafar Chakhmakhli said parliamentary ratification is an important step toward preparatory work for implementing the TRIPP project.

According to him, although the opposition opposed the project during the vote, the agreement was approved. A company has been established to implement the project, and funds have been allocated. Chakhmakhli believes the project could be implemented before a peace agreement, but operating the route without a final agreement between the two countries could create serious problems in the future.

The professor said the project envisages a railway, oil and gas pipelines, a highway and an energy corridor. He stressed that agreeing these issues with Azerbaijan is important.
