Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov gets Hacettepe University honorary doctorate

A ceremonial conference was held on 2 November 2026 at the Institute of International Relations of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It marked the award of the “Honorary Doctor in the Field of International Relations” degree by Hacettepe University of Türkiye to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the presentation of the “Strategic Friendship” award by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEİK). Turkmenistan’s MFA reported the event.

Heads of several Turkmen ministries and agencies, state institution representatives, the Turkish Embassy in Turkmenistan, faculty members and students attended. Participants highlighted the steady development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Türkiye in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and educational fields, as well as Turkmenistan’s foreign policy initiatives on peace, trust and security.

Turkish Ambassador Shener Cebeci stressed the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation and pointed to the new Park of Culture of the Turkic States as a symbol of friendship between brotherly peoples. The gathering adopted an Address to President Berdimuhamedov expressing gratitude and congratulations.
