Uzbek President receives head of Asian Football Confederation

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation, on October 17. The meeting addressed further development of Uzbekistan's productive partnership with the authoritative sports organisation.

Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa praised the large-scale work underway in Uzbekistan to support amateur and professional football, build modern infrastructure and create an educational base. The sides stressed the importance of jointly developing football academies and promoting programmes to attract young people to football, including the Football Ground in Every Mahalla programme.

The parties agreed to expand practical cooperation, including organising major football events such as women's and youth championships, providing methodological assistance in training athletes and coaching staff, and selecting talented footballers.
