A new gas-condensate field, Burisoy, has been discovered in Guzar district of Kashkadarya region, on Shurtan territory, through geological exploration. The work aimed to strengthen the hydrocarbon raw material base, replenish existing reserves and search for new fields.

Exploration drilling began on 5 August, and the well was drilled to 3,159 metres in a short time. Tests conducted by Uzbekgeofizika JSC produced an industrial inflow of natural gas and condensate from carbonate deposits at 2,842–3,001 metres, amounting to 300,000–400,000 cubic metres per day.

Specialists are now conducting geological studies to determine how well the rocks can accumulate and transmit gas and to assess the field's potential. Natural gas is to be sent for processing from 15 October for later supply to consumers. A second exploration well is planned at the field before the end of the year.
