Türkiye is preparing to host leaders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara on Oct. 29-30. Turkish officials often describe the meeting as a “family council” of kindred countries, and critical decisions are expected on the path toward the “Century of the Turkic World” vision.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on October 21. The call was reported by the press service of the Azerbaijani head of state. During the phone conversation, the leaders discussed Azerbaijani-Turkish bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues.

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli said the level reached by the Organization of Turkic States is of great importance for the future of the Turkic world. He described the organization as the institutional foundation of shared history, culture and a common vision for the future. According to Bahçeli, relations within the organization rest on respect for each member state's sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and domestic law.
