Turkey-Azerbaijan unity is unshakeable, says Devlet Bahceli

Devlet Bahceli, leader of Turkey's Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), said relations among Turkic states are rooted in history too deep to be shaped by outside political projects, geopolitical calculations or divisive plans. In a written statement after a party Executive Board meeting, he said the future of the Turkic world rests on sovereignty, mutual respect, equal partnership and trust.

Bahceli pointed to the Organization of Turkic States summit to be held in Ankara next week, and to the invitation extended to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to attend it. He said the ties between Turkey and Azerbaijan rest on shared history, language, culture, mutual trust and the spiritual unity of their peoples.

The statement acknowledged that differing approaches and unresolved issues may arise, and said they should be resolved through mutual understanding and direct dialogue without harming fraternal ties.
