Uzbek President discusses upcoming events with US Special Envoy

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor on 16 October. The two sides reviewed current issues related to further deepening the Uzbek-American strategic partnership.

Discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming visit to Uzbekistan by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a C5+1 ministerial meeting, and the second session of the Uzbek-American Business and Investment Council. Emphasis was placed on the substance of the upcoming events, the development of new initiatives and the practical implementation of joint projects in priority areas.

The growing role of the business council was noted, as in a short period it has become an effective mechanism for developing trade and economic ties, attracting investment and promoting joint business initiatives. The sides also exchanged views on the schedule of upcoming international events involving leaders of both countries.
