Kazakhstan Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting on the digital transformation of labour and social protection. Participants discussed digital solutions to direct state social assistance to citizens who genuinely need it, monitor compliance with labour rights, and identify risks at enterprises early.

Labour and Social Protection Minister Asqarbek Ertayev and Vice Minister Bakhtiyar Zhazykpayev presented the main digital solutions. The Family Digital Card information system combines data on over 20 million citizens and 6.2 million households from more than 30 state information systems. In 2025, the living conditions of 480,355 needy families improved and they were moved to a higher well-being category; since early 2026, another 464,158 families have moved into that category.

Changes for citizens in the higher well-being category will apply to only 14 of the 36 social benefit types, while the remaining 22 payment types keep their current procedure. The government said the current procedure for state support to citizens who truly need it will remain fully in place.
