Bukhara region to expand Tekhnochem petrochemical cluster with $292 million investment
The Bukhara region plans to invest $292 million to expand the Tekhnochem petrochemical cluster. This was announced during a visit to the enterprise by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The project envisages raising annual processing capacity by 400,000 tonnes and creating 700 new jobs.
Located in Bukhara district on a 69-hectare site, the complex employs about 500 people and is the only facility of its kind in Uzbekistan. It processes oil, gas condensate, naphtha, methanol and pyrolysis distillate. Its products include octane booster for gasoline and solvents used in paints, varnishes, glue and household chemicals.
The next stage is due to be completed by the end of 2028. Tekhnochem plans to export around 180,000 tonnes of petrochemical products, gasoline and diesel annually to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and the European Union. Negotiations with foreign partners are also under way on a project to process 150,000 tonnes of liquefied gas in 2028–2030. Mirziyoyev recommended increasing export potential and training technologists, engineers, chemists and laboratory staff.
