Mirziyoyev receives US Secretary of State Marco Rubio

Head of state Shavkat Mirziyoyev received US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on October 19. Rubio had come to Uzbekistan to take part in a C5+1 ministerial meeting and the second meeting of the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council. At the start of the meeting, Rubio conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from US President Donald Trump.

The talks focused on strengthening the Uzbekistan-US strategic partnership and consistently implementing agreements reached at the highest level. The sides gave a high assessment to the results of the C5+1 ministerial meeting. Both sides welcomed the growth of bilateral cooperation in politics and security, trade and investment, innovation and technology, and education and culture.

Security cooperation is being strengthened in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and illegal migration. Bilateral trade turnover has risen by 35 percent since the start of the year. At today's meeting of the Business and Investment Council, new agreements worth $12 billion were reached. Documents on the peaceful use of outer space, including the Artemis Accords, were also signed.
